Eye Disease Co-Management Services

Eye disease can come in different forms, such as glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic eye disease, and age-related macular degeneration. Your eye exam is about more than just updating your prescription—it also allows our team to check for early signs of eye disease.

We use diagnostic technology during our eye exams, such as OCT and visual field testing technology, to get a complete picture of your eye health. We can diagnose and co-manage the different forms of eye diseases to provide support for your long-term eye health.

We take a hands-on approach to detecting, monitoring, and co-managing eye disease. Contact us to schedule your appointment today.

Early Detection with Diagnostic Technology

We want to begin preparing a personalized treatment plan as soon as possible, and that starts with the early detection of eye diseases. OCT retinal imaging and visual field testing allow us to pick up on abnormalities and signs of potential problems.

Regular eye exams are important and allow our team to detect possible issues early to get a head start on finding solutions.

OCT & Visual Field Testing for Diagnostics

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a noninvasive imaging technology that produces a highly detailed 3D image of the inside of your eye. Using OCT, our team can thoroughly assess the health of your retina and optic nerve, identify potential issues, and provide you with personalized treatment options.

We pair OCT scans with visual field testing, a noninvasive test that measures the full horizontal and vertical range of what you can see, helping our team detect potential blind spots that could indicate eye health issues.

Exploring Different Eye Diseases

Eye diseases can be challenging to manage, and a big part of that is the different forms they come in. We want to help our patients understand the different forms of eye disease and some of their early symptoms so they can make an informed decision about scheduling an eye exam.

Our co-management services are built around collaboration and getting our patients the help they need.

We offer glaucoma management services that begin with our diagnostic technology and comprehensive eye exams. We can also recommend you to other healthcare professionals if you need further glaucoma care, such as surgical treatments.

Glaucoma is a group of eye conditions that cause damage to the optic nerve, which is responsible for sending visual information to your brain. Damage to the optic nerve can lead to vision loss and blindness if not detected and treated early.

Damage from glaucoma can be caused by high pressure in the eye, referred to as intraocular pressure. Age, family medical history, and previous eye injuries can all be contributing risk factors for glaucoma, and maintaining a regular eye exam schedule to monitor your vision is essential if you are considered at-risk for developing glaucoma.

Our cataract co-management services include pre-op evaluations and post-op care. Our evaluations include retinal imaging for diagnostics, and we can recommend you to surgeons for cataract surgery as well.

Cataracts develop when the normally clear lens of the eye becomes clouded and can include symptoms like blurry vision, dim or yellowed vision, and difficulty seeing at night.

If cataracts progress to a later stage and prevent you from going about your daily activities, such as reading or driving, cataract surgery may be recommended.

AMD is a progressive disease that affects your central vision, damaging the macula. This damage can make things like reading and driving much more difficult. AMD is a leading cause of vision loss among older adults and has 2 main forms:

  • Dry AMD is the more common form of the disease and occurs in early, intermediate, and late stages. This form of AMD occurs when the macula thins with age.
  • Wet AMD is the less common form of the disease and can cause faster and more severe vision loss. Wet AMD occurs when abnormal blood vessels grow in the back of the eye and damage the macula.

We can diagnose and monitor AMD with OCT scans and visual field testing to get a more detailed look at how it is affecting your vision. Consistent eye exams, adjusting your diet, and giving up smoking are also effective prevention methods for AMD.

Our diabetic eye disease evaluations implement OCT retinal imaging and visual field testing if needed to monitor the effects diabetes is having on your vision.

Diabetes is a condition that affects your blood sugar, but it can also affect your vision. Diabetes can also increase the risk of developing eye diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts, and diabetic retinopathy, which can be a significant vision loss concern for those with diabetes.

Some signs and symptoms of diabetic retinopathy can include blurry vision, a loss of central vision, and difficulty seeing at night.
